Jake Gillison, 84, of South Bristol, and Leesburg, Fla., passed away the afternoon of August
11 with family members at his side.
Jake was born on June 1, 1942, in Pemberton, N.J. to the late Alfred and Eleanor Gillison. It
was during his junior year of high school that he met and fell in love with his late wife, Judy
Gillison. They were married on July 8, 1961, and soon after started their family. They were
married for 55 years.
In 1977, Jake moved his family to Walpole. For the next 20 years he worked along the Maine
Coast trucking seafood, opening the Antique Café restaurant and being involved with the
South Bristol First Responders. He and Judy retired in 1997 and eventually escaped the
New England winters by moving to Florida. Jake was an avid collector of Disney pins, post
cards, sports cards, stamps and much more.
Jake was predeceased by his loving wife, Judy. He is survived by their children, David
Gillison and wife Kat of Winter Haven, Fla., Debbie Wallace and husband Damon of
Lakeland, Fla., Doug Gillison and wife Shari of Harrisburg, N.C., and Larry Gillison and wife
Deana of Anderson, S.C.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his dear friend
Sharon McCann who lovingly cared for him.
The family held a private viewing to honor Jake’s life.
