

After graduating from Winter Haven High School in 1953, James proudly served his country in the US Army. After leaving the Army, he worked for many years as a parts manager for Polk Tractor. James was an avid bowler and met his beloved wife during a doubles tournament. Together they enjoyed travelling and were married almost 40 years. He was a natural born caregiver and was always willing to lend a helping hand. You could always find him at Eagle Lake Diner for Saturday morning breakfast.
He is survived by his daughter Marsha Feathers, sister Barbara Summers, as well as grandson Jamie Orth (Ajia), great-grandchildren Juliana Cooper (Trey), Jaden Orth, Joeci Orth, and niece Tracy Hagger. James was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Jean Lawrence, parents Otis and Lela Lawrence, and brothers William “Boots” Lawrence, Doyle Lawrence, Bill Lawrence, and Charles Lawrence.
Donations in James' memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 10:00–11:00 AM at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, 2198 K-Ville Ave, Auburndale, FL 33823 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. James will be laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens.
