

Lonnie married Margaret Tanner on February 1, 1974, and together they shared over five decades of marriage. He was a husband, father of two, and grandfather to five grandsons. He especially loved traveling, spending time with his family, and being out by the lake.
Lonnie dedicated his life to law enforcement with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, serving more than 31 years. He began his service in 1979 and was sworn in as a Law Enforcement Deputy in 1981. After retiring in 2011, he served as a reserve deputy and part-time Deputy Sheriff until the day of his passing.
Lonnie was a member of Ridge Community Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Tanner; his daughter, Crystal Floyd; his son-in-law, Christopher “Casey” Floyd; his sister-in-law, Joyce Cobia; his daughter-in-law, Elisabet Tanner; and his grandchildren, Aiden Tanner, Jaxon Floyd, Tyler Tanner, Dylan Floyd, and Logan Floyd.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Tanner; his brother, Joseph Clifford “J.C.” Tanner; his father, Willie “Nelson” Tanner; and his mother, Barbara Jean Sizemore (Tanner).
