Mary Jo Furney, 81, of Polk City passed away on July 30th 2011. She was born on June 3rd, 1930 to Fred and Augusta Ooley in Borden, Indiana. She was raised on Daisy Hill, Borden, Indiana. Mary Jo moved to Auburndale, Florida in 1962.She was a member of First Baptist Church of Polk City. Mary Jo was an avid gardner. She was intrigued by jungle cats and loved the outdoors. Mary Jo worked as a laminator at Fugua Homes in Auburndale, Florida and Homes of Merit in Bartow, Florida. Mary jo was very outgoing and loved people.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Furney, brother, J.B. Ooley, and sisters, Lula Mae Goff, Martha Hammner, and Faye (Sissy) Heldman. She is Survived by her children, Rowena Myers (Dennis), Sabrina Willis (Joey), Tammy Taylor, and James Steele Jackson (Cassie), grandchildren; Tony Roddenberry, Jerome Roddenbery, Felicia Willis Fipps, Serena Lock Ireton, L.J. Smith, Adam Willis, Jessica Jackson, And Kyle Jackson, and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 2nd, from 9 to 10 with services following at 10. Both will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale, Florida.
