Mavis grew up in a family of eight children. As the children grew up, they helped their father peel cypress for cypress chairs. She loved all of her family, children, and grandchildren with all of her heart, and enjoyed spending time with them on Christmas Eve, which was her special day where she could have all the family together to eat and exchange gifts. She loved camping, sitting on the river bank fishing for catfish and riding on the truck and swamp buggy with her husband hunting. She was a great cook and homemaker, and had a lot of younger friends over the years that called her "mom". She has now moved on to be with her family in heaven and will be missed greatly by the ones that she is leaving behind here on Earth, but one day we will all get to see her again.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Calvin Don Croft Sr.; three children, Tamara Kay Penfield, William Derek Smith, Randy Dale Croft; two brothers, Austin Stephens, and Clyde Stephens; sister, Joyce Klooster; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.
Mavis is preceded in death by her son, Calvin Don Croft Jr.; brothers Freeman Stephens, and Frank Stephens; and sisters Francis Stephens, and Marlene Stephens.
