May B. Waters

May B. Waters, age 88, formerly of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 in Winter Haven, Florida. She was born on May 30, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to the late George Lloyd Briscoe and Gladys Goyette Briscoe.

May was raised in Groveland Massachusetts. She was the last class of Groveland High School, class of 1953. Upon graduating she attended Beth Israel School of Nursing in Boston Massachusetts where she graduated in 1957. She married the love of her life, Frederick D. Waters Sr. on November 28, 1957 in Wilmington, North Carolina. May worked as a pediatric nurse in the maternity ward at James Walker Hospital, Cape Fear Hospital and New Hanover Hospital as well as at the Babies Hospital and for Dr. Robert Smalley. May retired from nursing in June of 2004.

May was preceded in death by her husband Frederick (Fred) D Waters Sr. and her son Frederick (Ricky) D. Waters Jr. She is survived by her two daughters Elizabeth Scott (Tom) and Jeannie Kentrolis, her 3 grandchildren and her 4 great grandchildren. May also leaves behind her special nephew Frank (Buddy) Waters of Wilmington, North Carolina and her special friend Linda McGill of Winter Haven, Florida.

A memorial service and inurnment for May will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr., Wilmington, North Carolina 28409.
