Medina Grant DeRossett Thomas

She is survived by her devoted husband Marc L. Thomas of Lakeland and loving son, Jason Ferlisi, also of Lakeland, whom she shared with the late Frank J. Ferlisi, Jr.

Medina was born on March 13, 1955 in Lexington, KY to John C. DeRossett and Sue Kathleen (née Shrum). She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Kenneth Joe Royse. She is survived by stepmother Billie Jean DeRossett of Georgetown, KY, brothers John “Chris” DeRossett (Georgia) of Georgetown, KY, and Todd DeRossett of Winchester, KY, sister Billie Sue Royse of Asheville, NC, sisters-in-law Patricia Ferlisi-Lockard of Lakeland, Reneé Norris-Royse of Plant City, step-granddaughter Summer Ferlisi of Birmingham, AL, and many nieces and nephews.

Spending her early childhood in Paris, Kentucky, Medina moved to New Lebanon, Ohio in 1962 where she graduated from Dixie High School in 1972. In 1976 she relocated to Florida, living in Hillsborough and Polk counties. It was in Lakeland where she twice found love, raised her son, and forged friendships that she held near to her heart for the rest of her life. She particularly cherished her friends Belinda, Lynn, and Lori who affectionately called her “Momma Dee” and Goddaughter Brooklyn.
