

Milton Columbus Braxton, Jr. (M.C. or Red) age 89, of Winter Haven, FL passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 surrounded by family and friends at Cypress Creek Assisted Living Facility, Sun City Center, FL, from natural causes. He was born April 19, 1923, the oldest of 11 children, to the late Milton Columbus Braxton, Sr., and Clara Toole Braxton of Cottondale, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, James Aaron Braxton and Earnest Paul Braxton and sisters Miriam Moore and Eloise Evans. He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Johnnie Sue Braxton, sons: Lamar Braxton, Ronald Braxton (Ellen) and Cody Braxton, daughters: Susan Morris (Chuck) and Prudence Braxton Cole (Eric), 10 grandchildren: Amanda Durrence, Marcy Sizemore, Marlo Moody, David Lamar Braxton, Margaret Braxton, Clay Braxton, Kailin Boatfield, Chloe Braxton, Malachi Braxton and Jenet Braxton, 7 great grandchildren, sisters: Eunice McCall, Esther (Robin) Braxton and Alice Merchant (Coy Ray), brothers: Joe Braxton, David Braxton (Margie) and Moses Braxton.
Mr. Braxton retired after 34 years with Winn Dixie grocery stores where he was the meat department manager. He was briefly a realtor with Juanita Robinson Realty, and trained meat cutters for the Golden Corral Restaurants. Reflecting their love of children, Milton and Johnnie owned and operated the Country Day Preschool and Day Care. He was a member of Carpenter's Home Church.
Funeral Services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home and Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens with Pastor Karl Strader officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at 1 pm.
