Robert V. Hancock, 85, of Winter Haven passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at home. He was born in Plant City, Florida on May 10, 1933 to the late John Earl Hancock Sr. and Annie Frances Parker Hancock. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from GTE as a supervisor after 33 years and then enjoyed a second career as a security guard at Southeastern University. He was very involved in his church as a deacon and enjoyed many seasons coaching girls fast pitch softball in Bartow.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, John E. Hancock, Arthur F. Hancock, and Wayne H. Hancock Sr., and sisters, Sarah A. Hall and Frances L. Scott. He s survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Eldean G. Hancock, Children; Kimberly D. Hancock, Sherry L Anderson (Wade), Cathy E. Cross, Jeffrey D. Hancock (Amanda), stepsons, Steve Livingston (Sharon), Michael Livingston (Jody), and Melinda Polston (Mark), grandchildren, West, Ciera, Summer, Wyatt, Danielle, Gage, Dawson, Rachel, Heather, Michael, Jessica, Lance, and Taylor, and Five great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, from 10-11 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. Both will be held at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale, Florida.
