Lakeland- Robert L. Newton, age 78, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016. He was born August 21, 1938 in Five Points, TN the son of Avery Newton and Loraine Facemyer. He was retired after 38 years with the US Postal Service. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a veteran of the US Army. Robert’s family was the most important thing in his life. He followed his grandsons Brandon and Kyle as they played in baseball leagues from little league through college. He formed a special bond with his class mates Leland and Danny after graduation from Lexington Alabama High School and attended many class reunions.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Newton. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Newton, son: Cary Newton (Tracy), daughter: Tania Pratt (Darin), grandchildren: Brandon Pratt, Kyle Newton, Brooke and Haley Sloan, great granddaughter: Teylie and sister: Martha Cottrell.
Visitation is Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 9:30- 10:00 am at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale, FL with Graveside Services at 10:00 am at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, Auburndale, FL
