Ruth Mary Smallwood

Ruth Mary Smallwood, 95, passed away on September 10, 2022 in Winter Haven, Florida. She was born on March, 17, 1927 in Allegan, Michigan and moved to Haines City, Florida 45 years ago from Richmond, Indiana. Ruth was a homemaker and wife of a retired Army Veteran, traveling all over the country for his duty stations and was also stationed in Greece.

Ruth was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and also supported senior citizens with afghans she personally crocheted and cookies and other goodies she baked and lovingly delivered. She also supported youth groups in her church by hosting many gatherings in her home for ice cream or homemade elephant that they always looked forward too.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Troy Smallwood. She is survived by her children, Joy Lowenberg of El Paso, TX, David Smallwood of Lakeland, FL, and Judy Smallwood of St. Petersburg, Florida, sister, Martha French of Las Cruces, NM, grandchildren, Jason Cloutier of Derwood, MD, Danielle Vigil of El Paso, TX, and Brian Geis of Rockwall, TX, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15 at 10 a.m. at Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Auburndale, FL, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens.
