All my memories about Aunt Virginia are surrounded by my other family members. I remember dad, Leon, Aunt Mildred and Aunt Virginia at times of joy when we were all together for family events and at times of sadness when we gathered to say goodbye to those we loved. My father use to say that Aunt Virginia made you want to give her gifts by the way she reacted with each gift. If the gift was as simple as a piece of candy or something more elaborate, she expressed such joy it made you want to give more. She was a joy to be around. I will miss her, but I know that she has not stopped talking since entering heaven. I just hope she doesn't tell dad everything, just my good stuff.

We have so many wonderful memories of Virginia. Kirby we have never had a pastor who became friends of ours the way you and Virginia have been for over 55 years. You have always been more like family to us than most of our own family members. Not only that, but our children were always so close. We have been on many trips together and I never heard a dispute between our children.
We have lost a dear friend in this lifetime, but what is that compared to eternity. Soon and very soon we will meet again and renew this friendship like never before. I don't know if that's exactly the way it will be in Heaven, but whatever GOD has planned for us will be glorious.
It is hard for us to bear not being there with you, but you know that circumstances changed our plans.
We love you so very much and we are keeping you and your family in our prayers.

I was a teenager when the Thompsons were pastoring in Lavonia, Georgia.
Virginia taught me how to play piano in the Church Of God style. Needing to learn to drive she took time to do this also. I went to Florida with her when her brother got married & helped take care of 4 children who got poison ivy while there. She was a role model for me to follow. I am a Church Of God minster’s wife now & her style of playing is evident in my playing. God had her there to mentor a teenager. I am so grateful she came into my life. I know her reward is going to be great. Thank you for giving to the Lord, Virginia.
