Andrew Louis Benson

Mr. Andrew Louis Benson, 87, of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his family. Louis served our country in the United States Army during WWII. He retired from Howard Lumber after many dedicated years of service. Mr. Benson is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Sybil Benson; two daughters, Pamela McGahee and Jenny Howell; two step-sons, Lance (Beth) Harrell and John Harrell; sister, Bernice Gene Michaels; grandchildren, TJ McGahee, Lindsey Banos , Kimberlee McGahee, Jennifer Howell, Amanda Howell, Melissa Long, Stephanie Anderson, Charlie Anderson, Ian Harrell, Emmett Harrell, Jacob Harrell and Jeremy Harrell; numerous great- grandchildren; and his beloved coon dog, Jayden. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM, Friday, August 9, 2013 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial Contributions may be made to Fleming Baptist Church in Louis' memory.
