Betty Jo Carter

She was born on October 25, 1934 in Harlan, KY, the second of nine children born to Joe Shepherd and Gladys Fee Shepherd.

She spent her 20's and 30's following her Army Sargeant husband, Bobby Joe Carter, from duty station to duty station all over the globe. They had three daughters, Deborah Kay Bunch, Pamela Joyce Price, and Donna Sue Fugate. She was a beloved grandmother to 9, great-grandmother to 12, and great-great grandmother to 4.

In her 60's and 70's she was a loving caregiver to first her father, then her mother and finally her younger brother. She put her own life on hold to care for them until their deaths. That is who she was.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, she was a baptized servant of Jehovah for over 50 years and remained loyal to her beliefs until she fell asleep in death on August 3, 2026 at the age of 91. Her faith was a driving force in her life.
