Betty Carolyn Mahaffey

Betty Carolyn Mahaffey, 80, of Interlachen, FL, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Palatka Health Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Kinta, Oklahoma and graduate of Cromwell High School, Betty resided in Interlachen, FL since 1999 coming from Augusta, GA where she resided since 1965. She received her training in nursing from Swainsboro Area Vocational and Technical School in Swainsboro, GA and retired from St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta, GA after over 20 years as a licensed practical nurse. Betty enjoyed painting and spending quality time with her family.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda McDonald.

She is survived by a daughter Lana Branch and husband, Larry of Interlachen, FL, 2 grandchildren, Tony Kitchens of Augusta, GA and Johnny McDonald and wife Patty of Evans, GA and a great granddaughter, Bailey Jo McDonald.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road in Augusta, GA. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. till the time of services.
