Dr. Cora Andrenia Guider Johnson, a retired educator of Columbia, SC, entered into rest on May 11, 2022. Dr. Johnson was affectionately known as “Ann” by close friends and family. Dr. Cora Guider Johnson graduated from Warren County High School in 1971. She received her Masters of Arts in Elementary Education, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Benedict College (Columbia, SC) in 1975. She received her Master of Arts Degree from Fort Valley State University in Elementary Education. She received her Specialist in Education at Augusta University in 1991. In 2006, Cora acquired her Doctorate in Education Administration, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As a lifelong educator since she served as an elementary school teacher for 34 years in McDuffie County School System (R.L. Norris Elementary School, 1975-2000) and Richmond County School System (Lamar-Milledge Elementary School, 2000-2008) and was an active member of the Georgia Association of Educators. She retired from the Richmond County School System to volunteer for the YMCA for Greater Richmond County. Dr. Johnson was indeed a community-oriented citizen and was always helpful to all in the field of education.
Some of many Dr. Johnson’s civic activities includes 1967-71, Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church organist (Warrenton, GA); 1971-75, Little Zion Baptist Church Organist (Blythewood, SC); 1979, Augusta Mini Music Theater Music as a Reading Teacher; 1980-82, Norris Middle School Honor Roll Chairman; 1983-1985, McDuffie Association of Educator President; 2011-13, Boys and Girls Club for Greater Richmond County educator (Jamestown Elementary); 2007, Beulah Grove Baptist Church 2004 (Augusta, GA) member.
Dr. Cora “Ann” Johnson was a worldwide vacationer who planned and participated in nearby and global trips in several instances. She traveled all over the USA, the Caribbean, and international countries.
Survivors are one daughter, Cora Victoria Turner (Jeffrey), Lawrenceville, GA; loving and devoted significant other, late Floyd Thomas Bennett; late father, Raymond L. Guider; mother, Cathenia Spencer Guider, Columbia, SC; sister, Cathenia Doretha Guider Dobbs (Eric), Lilburn, GA; granddaughter, Christina Akasha Turner; nephews, Coley Works Jr. (Jessica), Snellville, GA & Christopher J. Works, Decatur, GA., and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and an abundance of friends.

Family & Friends Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2022, from 6-8p.m. and Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 10-11 a.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel.
