Effie G. McTier entered into rest on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Doctors Hospital. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Telfair Street Chapel with Rev. Jerry Wilson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Mrs. McTier was born in Thomson Georgia and was attendant with handicapped children at Gracewood State Hospital Survivors include son Redrick (Alice) Hobby; daughter Sybil Byars; step- son J.T. Hobby, Jr.; step- daughters Faye Floyd and Pat Stein; brothers and sisters Lindy David McTier, Hattie Mae McTier, Mary Doris McTier and Morris McTier; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings Redrick Brombley McTier, Lona Belle McTier and John Hurschel McTier.
