October 4, 1928 – November 23, 2018
Evelyn Dysart Badmagharian, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Westwood Nursing Facility of University Hospital in Evans Georgia. She was born October 4, 1928 to Frank and Meletta McLaughlin of Roanoke, Virginia. Evelyn was the youngest of three siblings, her brother John McLaughlin passed away in 1977 and Frank McLaughlin in 1992. Both of her brothers loved her deeply and she was affectionately called “Mac”” by her brothers and friends. Rumor has it that friends loved her also for the fact that Evelyn worked in a Soda/Ice Cream shop. When her friends came in, they walked out with generous scoops of ice cream!!! Evelyn attended school in Roanoke, Virginia in her early years and later graduated from Averett College in Danville, Virginia. Gifted as a musician and singer, Evelyn was a Minister of Music at Waverly Baptist Church when she married Stanley Harrison Dysart, Jr, May 11, 1953. Always known as a beautiful lady, you had to smile when the photographer described her wearing “a street length dress of Chantilly lace with matching accessories and a white orchid corsage!!” Following the passing of her husband in 1992, she later married Emil Badmagharian on January 17, 1998 in Augusta, Georgia. They were happily married for 20 years. Evelyn would later go on to model professionally, establish and run a modeling studio/school, perform in opera, sing in Europe, as well as work with several film studios. One of Evelyn’s greatest joys—because she loved entertaining children, was the publication of a book for children entitled, “The Christmas Tree that Cried,” which for her was the fulfillment of a lifetime goal. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Emil; four children: Stanley H. Dysart, III of Marietta, Georgia; Michael S. Dysart of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Kathy Dysart Lawson of West Point, New York and John M. Dysart of Madison, Michigan. Keeping her memory and deeply missing her are also 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. In memory of Evelyn’s life, the family asks in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the Meals on Wheels organization of Augusta, Ga.

I was one of Evelyn’s students when she had her modeling studio. At 16 years of age, her school was a huge success in building my self esteem. Priceless.
