

Mrs. Geraldine “Jerry” Ethelle Harden Church, 81, of Augusta, Georgia entered into rest at her home Friday, April 8, 2011 with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Vivan Harden of Avon Park, FL; her beloved husband, Major Richard L. Church; sister, Allie Cain, and three brothers, Ike, Bobby and Harvey.
Survivors include daughter, Lynn Church of Augusta; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Marianne Church of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Ken Bell of Maryville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Roxann Church of Salina, KS; daughter and son-in-law, Dottie and Thomas Dean of Chinle, AZ; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bud Ward of Avon Park, FL; sister-in-law, Annie Dee Shaw of Avon Park, FL; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; devoted caregiver and special friend, Jane Holeck of Saluda, SC.
She was a loving mother, who was an active member of the PTA while her children attended school. She was also a wonderful grandmother to her precious grandchildren. Her interests included reading, dancing with her husband, playing bridge at the Fort Gordon Bridge Club, traveling and watching the Masters. She was a member of the Retired Military Police Association. Jerry worked ten years with American Greeting Card Company.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel. Mrs. Church will be interred next to her husband at Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC with Dr. Pauline Hughes officiating.
Special appreciation is extended to United Hospice of Evans, Dale Lummus and Marty Leonard for the love and compassion shown to Jerry and her family during her illness.
