

Born in the city of Memphis, Tennessee, on October 23, 1952, Gilda was the beloved daughter of Jessie Hill and Caliophe Langston I. She attended local schools, including Georgia Avenue, Porter Junior High, and Booker T. Washington High Schools, proudly earning her diploma in 1971.
With a spirit of dedication and a desire to serve, Gilda bravely enlisted in the United States Army at the young age of 19. Her military journey began with training and early assignments that took her to places like San Antonio, Texas.
Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, Panama, Tacoma, Washington and Fort Gordon. Gilda met her future husband , Elmer Rogers during her tour of duty at Fort Gordon. They had one son. Elmer Rogers’s Ii. She also graduated from Columbia University while in Panama.
Gilda loved taking care of her patients as a medical specialist and dental hygienist.
She is survived by her twin sister, Sister Stephanie Marie Langston, SSF, a host of nieces and nephews, nephews cousins from the Ewing, Shelton, Gulley, Langston, Turner, People’s families.
She will be missed by her friends and neighbors.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 2 pm at Elliott and Sons Funeral Services, 2524 Lumpkin Road Augusta, GA 30906.
Interment will be immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery 2700 Deans Bridge Road Augusta, GA 30906.
