Augusta, Ga- Gudrun Alexander peacefully passed away at home, June 13, 2021. Gudrun (Gudy) was born on December 17, 1939 in Karlsruhe, Germany to Karl and Elsa Frieda Butz. There she met the love of her life, George Terry Alexander. In 1963, they came to the United States and dedicated the next 20 years serving their country. They moved to Augusta, Georgia in the 1970’s where Gudy worked for the Augusta School System for a period of time. Gudy was a Lifetime Auxiliary member of the VFW-649 and a very dedicated member of 24 years with the Ladies Auxiliary Unit # 178 American Legion. She also dedicated 20 years serving the Georgia War Veterans. Gudy brought happiness to everyone who knew her generosity and kind heart. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Terry Alexander; father, Karl Butz; mother, Elsa Frieda Butz. Gudy is survived by her loving long-time friends, Rose Marie Adams, Billy Adams (Kiley), Raymie Adams, Ralph Adams (Amy), Bobbie Johann and DB Atkins. Pallbearers will be; Billy Adams, Ralph Adams, Russell Cole, Billy Davis, Ronnie Baurs, Jeff Awalt and Greg Clary. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Veterans of American Legion Post # 178. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19, from 10:00am until 12:00pm, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Lumpkin Road, Augusta. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 19, at 12:30pm, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Deans Bridge Road, Augusta. A Celebration of Life will follow at American Legion Post # 178, 3219, Richmond Hill Road.

I will always cherish my memories of the times Debbie and I shared with you and Terry. So many laughs and stories to remember. I know you are at peace, once again in the loving arms of Terry. I Love you lady!

Words are never adequate in moments like these. We will say though, that our hearts go out to the family and the American Legion Post 178 which she loved so much, and we will always remember the joyous memories that we are privileged to have in knowing Gudrun Alexander.
