1st SGT Harry D. Alderman, Sr., 83, of Augusta passed away Friday, January 10, 2014. 1st SGT Alderman was a distinguished military serviceman retiring from the United States Army after serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He earned numerous medals during his career. Harry also retired from Georgia Regional Hospital as a maintenance supervisor. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and devoted father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed. Mr. Alderman is survived by his wife, Madeline Alderman; three children, Harry (Sharon) Alderman, Jr., Sue (Chris) Rosser and Theresa (Robert) Smith; six grandchildren, Wesley Taylor, Stephanie Taylor, David Moore, Robert John Smith, Jr., Derek Smith and Kari Miles; and six great-grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and daughter, Edna Taylor. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 – 7 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 1 PM, Monday, January 13, 2014 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
