Harry attended Westminster High School and, following his graduation, proudly enlisted in the United States Army. During his military career, he served in multiple positions with dedication and honor before retiring.
A true NASCAR enthusiast, Harry loved attending races and took great joy in collecting NASCAR memorabilia. His passion for the sport was matched only by his love of bowling. Harry was deeply involved in the bowling community—both as a bowler and as a youth coach. He inspired countless young people to strive for excellence, not only on the lanes but also in life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Hong Chew; children, Rosanna Cooper (Norman Cooper Jr.) and Michael Chew; siblings, Judy Shorb (Edward) and Joyce Taulbee (Bill); granddaughter, Katelynn Cooper; and niece and nephew, David Watson and Doreen Murray (Charles). Mr. Chew is preceded in death by his father, Harry A. Chew Sr.; mother, Catherine Lambert Chew; and brother, Robert L. Chew.
A visitation to celebrate Harry’s life will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906.
Harry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
