Irene was born October 20, 1941 to Joseph and Isabel Gonzalez in Manila, Philippines she had many siblings and relatives throughout the world. She adored each and every one of them. She was a Tom boy and a rebel. She went to school to be a teacher, achieving her degree for teaching.
In 1964 she would meet Colin D. Teasley, an American soldier at the time. Eventually, they would marry and start a family. They would have and raise five children. Eugene, Katherine, Joseph, Joshua and Lisa. They adopted Christopher and Nikolas as well. She would become a surrogate mother to many of her children’s friends and her own grandchildren at times. She never met a stranger. She had 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She worked at many businesses in many places. She was a singer, she worked in 7/11’s Jet/Zippy Marts, VDO in Germany, AAFES, Carole Fabrics in Augusta, Montgomery Ward at Regency Mall. Her greatest and most successful venture was as a Mother, gardener and floral wizard and motherly teacher. She possessed an unrivaled green thumb. She was certainly a Master Homemaker and humble mother. Though not having a lot of money, she gave everything she could.
There will be a memorial service at Kroc Center Augusta, 1833 Broad St, Augusta, GA 30904 on June 12, 2021 from 1100-1400 or 11AM to 2pm.
