

Mrs. Hem worked for several years at Merry Brick Company, eight years at Club Car and retired from City of Augusta after fifteen years of service in the payroll department, where she worked alongside her dear friend, Betty Griffin. Following her retirement, she was a school crossing guard. Jackie recently, proudly earned her Bachelor’s degree from Augusta State University in Information Technology Management. Jackie thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Stephen. She was an avid Days of our Lives soap-opera fan, loved Coca-Cola and working Sudoku puzzles. She loved to travel to see her families in Sardis, Georgia as well as in Cambodia.
Jackie is survived by her devoted husband, Sam Hem; two daughters, Mira (Eric) Stallings and Cara Hem; one precious grandson, Stephen Stallings; her mother, Sara Joyner; three sisters, Stella Hall, Frankie (J. L.) Blackburn and Jennie Johnson; two brothers, Billy (Micky) Oglesby and Jake (Vicki) Oglesby; her beloved pet, Max; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial Services will be held 3 PM, Saturday, October 8, 2011 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Waits officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 PM Saturday, preceding the service at the funeral home.
