Jeanne was an accountant in the construction industry. She began her career as the 1st female construction employee- building the Michelin Tire Plant in Greenville, SC. She brought her talents and expertise to the Augusta area, building many local manufacturing plants. She enjoyed sewing crafts, genealogy, music, and sports. As well as being sole provider for her three children, she was a caregiver for her aging parents and ailing husband.
Family and friends were Jeanne’s passion and delight. Originally from New England, she grew up summers and vacations in Augusta with her brother, Frank (Judy). For several years, she would travel the southeastern states with her children in tow-supporting her brother Frank’s auto racing career. She loved to cook and entertain frequently, and had large barbeques with her brother Peter.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Sandy L. Ellis, and Susan H. Griffin (Patrick); grandson Charles P. Griffin; granddaughter, Heather N. Ellis; and brother, Frank H. Warren (Annette). She is preceded in death by her son, Craig D. Ellis; husband, Howard E. Rooks; and brother, Peter R. Warren. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Jeanne requested a private family burial and funeral. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness. Donations may be made to the Augusta Habitat for Humanity at P.O Box 657, Augusta, Ga 30903.
