1SG Jose Trinico Romero entered into rest on September 26, 2023.
Mr. Romero was born in New Mexico and later moved to Augusta and has resided here since the 1970’s. He served in the United States Army and retired after 22 years of service. He served two terms in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star medal. He also retired as a postman after another 22 years of civil service.
Mr. Romero was a kind and outgoing man who never met a stranger. In his spare time, he also enjoyed playing golf.
Mr. Romero is survived by his loving wife, Hildegard Salkind; children, Jesse Romero and Michael Romero; siblings, Reuben Romero, Lloyd Romero, Dalphadoe Romero, Cecilia Romero and Florada Romero; grandson, Shane Romero; and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
