Ms. Mathis was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and the CSRA EOA Authority.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hattie McKinney and Robert Willie Tanksley and her son Marcus Mathis.
Survivors include 2 sons, Myron Mathis (Pamela) and Merlin Mathis (Shunya); a daughter, Charlette M. Armstrong; 2 sisters, Georgia Thomas (Charles) and Peggy Tanksley; 7 Grandchildren; and 4 Great-Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
