Robert Newton Hatcher

Mr. Hatcher was a World War II and Korean Conflict Veteran. He was in the Company “E” 38th Infantry Regiment and while in Korea was awarded a Purple Heart. Mr. Hatcher grew up and was raised in Burke County, Georgia.

Mr. Hatcher is preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Hatcher; son, Bob Hatcher; daughter, Freda Moore; and sister, Velma Greer. Survivors include his daughter, Connie Pittman; son-in-law, Gary Pittman; grandchildren, Janai Teoli, Tracy Pittman, and Hannah Moore; brother, Julian “J.C.” Hatcher; and his 4-legged companion, Bruizee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906, with Pastor Mitchell Elder and Mr. Gary Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pall bearers who will honor Mr. Hatcher are Gary Pittman, Butch Taylor, Charlie Moore, and Stephen Windham.
