

He was born and raised in Augusta, and he is a twin. He served our country for 13 years in the Navy and retired from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs as Supervisor of the Energy Plant. He loved fishing more than most anything, and he was the #1 Fisherman. He also enjoyed working in his yard. He was a member of Bible Deliverance Temple. Thurmond was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people really felt it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Coley and Marion Bush; sister, Shirley Hattaway; sister, Melvis Anderson; and step-daughter, Angela Old. Survivors include his soul mate and loving wife of 22 years, Elsie H. Bush; son, Chris (Kathy) Bush; son, Thurmond L. Bush, Jr.; daughter, Gayle (Bill) Smith; daughter, Julie (Jackie) Waddell; daughter, Rhonda (Tim) Gentzyel; daughter, Tonya Simmons; step-daughter, Pat Robertson; sister, LaVerne Adair; sister, Thelma Ross; sister, Linda Autry; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Rd, Augusta, GA 30906. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Lumpkin Rd Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Rd, Augusta, GA 30906, with Pastor Jimmy Murray officiating. Interment with military honors will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum, 2700 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta, GA 30906.
