William "Bill" Wade Hooker

Bill is preceded in death by his Wife, Virginia Hooker; parents, W. Wade Hooker and Ina Mae (Reynolds) Hooker of Roberdel, NC. He is survived by children, William “Sam” Hooker, Jr., (Eileen), Virginia “Sue” Slater (Daniel), Josephine Hooker, Scott Hooker (Alysha), Dustin Hooker, Nicole Hooker, Bonnie Hooker, Gabrielle McNeely(Matt), Evan Hooker, and Albert Parrish, Jr (Keli).; grandchildren, Christopher Hooker, William “Wade” Hooker III (Stephanie), Dakota “Cody” Hooker, Chad Slater (Samantha), Ridge Slater, Claire Hooker, Ryleigh Hooker, Joyce Hooker, Bradyn Hooker, Grayson Rayner, Maddox Hooker, Blayke McNeely, Bennett McNeely, Colton Hooker and William Andrews (Susan); Great grandchildren; Jackson Wallace, Kason Hooker, Bronson Woodruff; Blake (Kristina) Parrish, Kourtnee Bradley, Dakota Redmond, Taylor Wren, Trey (Sarah) Parrish, Abby (Ty) Beatch, Chandler Runyon, J.T. Runyon, Kamden Runyon. And Numerous Great-Great Grand kids and sisters-in-laws, Grace Gsell and Delores Unger of Pennsylvania.

Bill was a loving and caring husband to his late wife for more than 60 years. He was also father to two biological children, 11 adoptive children, and several long-term foster children. He served his country for 20 years in the US Army, serving in France during the German occupation (WWII), Korea, and Vietnam. He retired with many awards and accolades. After retirement, he continued working as a subcontractor for BellSouth as a mechanic. Bill and his wife spent many years as Richmond County Foster parents, fostering over 200 children, and later became adoptive parents. Bill was a member of the CSRA Foster Parent Association. Bill was an active member of Hope Church Augusta. He had a deep love for the church, especially the youth ministry. Bill was steadfast in his faith and would share his testimony with all who would listen. Near the end of his earthly life, he said that he was not only happy to go home but also to see the love of his life, His late wife, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Lumpkin Road. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Rd, Grovetown, GA 30813. Pastor Nick Carnes of Hope Church Augusta will be officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers will be William Hooker III, Dakota Hooker, Chad Slater, Ridge Slater, William Andrews, Albert Parrish, Jr., and Matthew McNeely.

The Hooker Family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to Hope Church Augusta, Pruitt Health Palliative Care, Your Aging Therapist, Home Away from Home, and Mel Brooks for all their assistance and care over the last few years of his life. We would also like to thank the US Army Honor Guard for their assistance in providing honors Services.
