Alexander Kostiuk of Aurora, Colorado passed away on April 13, 2021. He was born on April 27, 1942 and as a young child he and his mother, Christyna Krowchenko, were constantly moving away from the fighting of World War II in Europe. Eventually Alex and his mother ended up in a displaced persons camp in Munich, Germany in 1946. His mother married Wasyl Kostiuk at the camp and the family immigrated to the United States in 1949. Making their way to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1950, Alex lived in Minneapolis until he joined the United States Air Force in 1959 as a photographer. He married Maxine Dianne Brabec on January 28, 1967 and together they had two sons, Michael Allen Kostiuk and Joseph Leonard Kostiuk. Alex served in the United States Air Force for 23 years retiring in 1982 and later completed a second career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. After his retirement from the United States Post Office, Alex spent his time caring for Maxine, playing golf, and working household projects in his garage.
Alex is survived by his wife, Maxine, his son Joseph of Louisville, Kentucky, and his son Michael and his wife Gina of Manassas, Virginia and his 4 granddaughters, Paula of Alexandria, Virginia, Cassandra of Denver, Colorado, Jenna of Richmond, Virginia, and Delila of Manassas, Virginia.
A private graveside service will be held on April 29, 2021 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church, 1243 Kingston Street, Aurora, Colorado 80010. https://theresecatholic.com.
