She graduated from French High School in Beaumont, Texas in May 1964 in the top 1% of her class after attending Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the majority of her high school years. Alice began her university studies at Lamar State College of Technology and ultimately received her BA in Psychology from LSU in May 1968 and her Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Certificate with highest honors from Lamar University in December 1973. As a lifelong learner, Alice also pursued the beginning of a PhD in Psychology at the University of Oklahoma before relocating and later took classes in Computer Science at Houston Community College.
Alice began her working life at age 14 in the photography studio with her father. She held numerous jobs throughout her years of schooling and was proud of her early work in Oklahoma with the FAA as a Psychometric Technician. After graduating with her LVN, she worked briefly as a nurse before her daughters were born. She raised her daughters in Texas while married to their father Robert Weikel and considered Houston home for nearly 40 years.
Alongside caring for her children, Alice cared for her mother Faye for many years and later cared full time for her husband, Bob Windham, when he became disabled. Alice also worked in the medical office of Dr. Donald Gardner for three years and then spent six years in the Human Resources department of Destec Energy, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical.
Alice is survived by her sister Carol, brother David (Karen), daughter Rachel (Lyndon), daughter Kara (Jonathan), stepson Kirk (Luba), grandchildren Colton, Avery, Samuel and Mia, nieces and nephews Melissa (Jeremy), Matthew (Maura), Kalese (Jake), Clint, and great nieces and nephews Julia, Isla, Owen, Caroline, Catherine; and other beloved extended family.
