
Barbara Jean Mills, 92, of Raymore Missouri, formerly of Aurora, Colorado died on September 27, 2016 at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore in Raymore, Missouri.
Barbara was born on September 6, 1924 to Enoch and Emma (Wanklyn) Hurtie. She graduated from Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Kansas.
On November 26, 1944 she married US Army Air Corps SSgt. Howard Mills in Hays, Kansas. Barbara and Howard both worked at Trans World Airlines during WW II. Howard worked in Accounting and Barbara in manufacturing glider landing skids. In 1946 Howard reenlisted in the newly formed US Air Force and continued his thirty year military career resulting in a life of travel and adventure.
Barbara and Howard retired at Lowery AFB in Aurora Colorado in 1972. For many years they spent months traveling around the USA and Canada in their motor home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, on January 30, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her sister Mary (Hurtie) Grable and by her parents.
Survivors include her two sons Steven Mills and wife Janean of Raymore, MO and Daniel Mills and wife Irene of Petal, MS. She is also survived by her sister Margaret (Hurtie) Polson of Beattie, KS, four Grandchildren: Matthew Mills and wife Anya of Mildenhall, UK, Jordan Mills and wife Melissa of Raytown, MO, Erin (Mills) McCoy and husband Keith of Birmingham, AL and Zach Mills of Petal, MS and six great grandchildren: Abbigayle Mills, Averie Mills, Alaina Mills, Connor McCoy, Patrick McCoy, and Iris Mills along with many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.
