Betty was a strong and hard working woman. She took pride in everything that she did. In the mid 60’s, her and her mother, Gladys, owned the Strasburg Café. She worked at Western Hardware during the 70’s where she built long lasting friendships and memories with people she worked with. During the late 80’s, Betty owned a small Liquor Store in Strasburg where she watched her family grow and start their own lives.
Betty moved out of the Strasburg area in the late 80’s and began working at Ball Aerospace where she worked for 17 years.
Betty loved listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis and Betty Boop collectables could be found on every table in her home. She enjoyed watching movies, new and old, it was one of her favorite past times. But her favorite way to spend time was with her children and grandchildren, she loved them dearly. She found happiness in the small joys in life, like making crafts for her friends, a good glass of wine, and keeping every card that was ever sent to her; she loved getting mail. You could always find Betty in her favorite chair watching her soap operas and games shows; a memory that her family will always carry with them.
Betty was a lively woman with a contagious laugh. She had a passion for making others around her enjoy life just as much as she did. Betty touched so many lives. Every time an angel or Betty Boop is seen, her memory will live on in our hearts. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Gladys Rice; brothers, Gerald and Ronald Rice.
She is survived by her three children; Sheryl Augsbury (Ed Snyder), Bruce Sherer (Sharron Dougan), and Carole (Jeff Mills).
