Beverly Jean Findlay

Beverly Jean Findlay was born on April 22,1951 to Margaret and Henry Compter in New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, leaving behind a family who will remember her for her curiosity, creativity, love of history, and the many stories she shared with those around her.

Much of her professional life was spent working as a secretary at Buckley Air National Guard. It was there that she became involved in a bowling league, where she met her husband, Ken Findlay. Through that shared experience, their paths crossed, their lives came together, and they began a journey they would share for years to come.

Education and learning were important to Bev. She began her college studies at Mary Washington College in Virginia and later graduated from Syracuse University in New York with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. She had a lifelong love of history and could often bring an interesting piece of the past into an everyday conversation. She was curious about the world and enjoyed sharing what she knew with others.

Her interests reflected her adventurous and creative spirit. She loved the creative arts and especially enjoyed making jewelry. Bev also loved cooking and trying new recipes, often finding joy in creating something new to share with others. She had recently begun nature journaling, finding joy in observing and recording the world around her. She loved staying active, whether taking a walk or hike, attending a fitness class, or trying something new. She participated in theater, joined a belly dancing class and even gave tap dancing a try. Bev’s faith was also an important part of her life. She was active in her church, loved singing in the choir and in the Lutheran Chorale, and cherished the time she spent in Bible study, where she continued to grow in her faith and deepen her understanding of God’s Word. She loved to write and tell stories and was never shy about talking with people. She genuinely enjoyed learning about others, sharing her own experiences, and making meaningful connections wherever she went.

She is survived by her brother, Henry Compter of Lakewood, Ohio; her daughter, Kristine Findlay of Arvada, Colorado; her son, Kenneth T. Findlay of Oregon; her grandson, Richard Hartman; her granddaughters, Kelsi and Bo Hartman and Samantha and Ellie Findlay; and her great-granddaughters, Quinn, Karter, Sloane, Kolbi, and Drew Davis.

Her memory will live on in the stories she told, the things she created, the knowledge she shared, and in the many lives she touched simply by being herself. She will be deeply missed.
