On September 30, 2013, Colleen McClellan Van Rikxoord took her final bows and exited the stage. It was a great show. Colleen made her first appearance in a small town in New Brunswick, Canada, but was quickly whisked away to be raised in New York City. Ever the consummate artist, Colleen was a skillful writer, brilliant actor, accomplished director, award-winning dancer, and esteemed teacher of the dramatic arts. Colleen was witty, wise, compassionate, and caring, and she made raving fans of everyone she met through her charming personality. Yet, her most treasured role was that of loving mother and devoted grandmother, for which she deserves many accolades. She is survived by her adoring family of 5 children, 5 grandchildren, and one brother who were lucky enough to have been illuminated by her brilliant light well into adulthood. The world is darker for her passing, and though she will be sadly missed, she will be affectionately remembered in our hearts forever.
