On the Afternoon of July 3, 2014, Daniel "Dan" Gregory Ern passed away
after a lengthy battle with heart disease; while being attended by staff
members at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit in Aurora, CO. Dan was 47
years old.
Dan was born on November 1st 1966 in Aurora Colorado at Fitzsimons Army
Medical Center. He was the second son to Robert and Nancy Ern.
Dan attended elementary, middle, and high school in Aurora Colorado,
graduating from William Smith High School in 1985. At which time he took
a job at the Sherman Tank Company where he was able to work with his
lifelong passion and fascination, fish.
Anyone that knew Dan knows of his deep dedication to the art and
science of fishing. As a boy, his brother Bill, remembers that "Dan
would jump in the lake and catch fish with his bare hands, not even
using a fishing pole." Fishing and fish would continue to be a passion
for his entire life, including his KOI pond that he built in his
backyard.
The second passion in Dan's life was for his daughter Kayli Ann. The
years they spent together brought joy and happiness to his life. Dan
found that being a father to Kayli Ann had its many challenges as well
as many rewards.
At the time of his death, Dan was working at the University of
Colorado's Health and Science Center.
He is survived by his daughter Kayli Ann, mother Nancy, brother
William, and preceded in death by his father Robert Carl Ern.
Arrangements under the direction of Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel, Aurora, CO.
