Dorothy Nell Sanders, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2021 in Centennial, Colorado. With the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s - early on she had a strong determination to endure its effects and have the best quality of life as long as possible. When it would become clear that she could not, she expressed her will to move to palliative care - which enabled a brief, relatively pain-free window of time for a final, intimate goodbye with loved ones.
She was born on November 11, 1928 to Carl & Viola Knipe and had four siblings: RC, Delton, Leonard and Thelma. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and attended Community College in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
She was married to Dock Sanders on March 5, 1948, and together they had one daughter, Debra Lynn. Early on she had given up the opportunity for a career in pattern design, and with the birth of her daughter - a career with Bell Telephone Company - to be a wife and mother.
She was a dedicated Jehovah’s Witness for 68 years. She loved sharing Bible truths about the wonderful promise of future life under the rule of God’s Kingdom – on a restored paradise earth. She spent countless hours helping others to learn more info about this bright future; info available on www.jw.org.
Dorothy had a passion for helping others - especially family and loved ones. She particularly enjoyed offering her expertise as a seamstress. She helped widows and others in times of need - with personal business matters; spending countless hours to resource programs to obtain available aid/assistance for them, expecting nothing in return. She never held back, demonstrating empathy and compassion. Her loving kindness will be missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Peterson; son-in-law Scott Peterson; grandsons Eric Peterson & wife Aimee and Christopher Peterson & wife Agneris; great grandsons Bradley Scott and Liam John Peterson. She will be missed by all including numerous nieces, nephews … and friends she considered as close brothers and sisters.
