
Edward was born April 16, 1921, in Clarksburg WV. Edward attended Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg WV and graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute class of 1944, in Blacksburg VA, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Edward was married to Margaret Anne Riley, from Clarksburg WV on June 27, 1943. Following their marriage, Edward entered the Army to serve in WWII on April 6, 1944. Edward served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army 255th Infantry Regiment in the European Theater of World War II, earning a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and World War II Victory Medal. After an honorable discharge from the US Army in 1946, Edward and his wife Margaret Anne, resided in Blacksburg VA, Charleston WV, SC, Wilmington DE, Frederick MD, and Algorta, Spain. A mechanical engineer, Edward worked for DuPont and retired from Bechtel Corporation in 1985.
After the passing of his wife, Margaret Anne Riley Fryer in 1979, Edward married Eleanor Jean Ware of Clarksburg WV.
Surviving Edward are a son, Randy Fryer (Lynn) of Charlotte NC; daughters Ann Fryer Carson of Denver CO and Marian Riley Fryer of New Jersey. Also surviving are grandsons, David J. Fryer (Whitney) of Madison NJ and Wade D. Carson (Ann) of Detroit MI; and granddaughters, Deborah Fryer Queen (Lee) of Charlotte NC and Sarah Margaret Carson of Gainesville FL. Great-grandchildren are Henry Willcox, Catherine Ayres, and Clark Edward Carson; Lily Grace and Eric Scott Queen.
A loving and devoted father, Edward honored his family first, devoting his life to them and their Christian walks. Edward served as a member and servant in several Baptist and Methodist churches as: Deacon, choir member, Board of Trustees, and Sunday school teacher. He served in the Lions Club of Ellijay, GA. Edward was loved by everyone who touched his life.
A memorial service was held in Denver, CO at Living Tower Church on August 1, 2015.
Edward Randolph Fryer was laid to rest in a private ceremony at Bridgeport Cemetery in Bridgeport WV.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
