Born on October 6, 1937, in Arkansas, throughout her life, she called many places home, but she spent much of her adult life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Denver, Colorado. Wherever life took her, Rae built lasting friendships and was known for her kindness and generous spirit.
She shared a loving marriage with her husband and together they embraced retirement by spending the first fifteen years traveling the United States in their motorhome. Along the way, they formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories while experiencing the beauty and diversity of America.
In her early adult years, Rae enjoyed her work as a secretary in the construction industry. She was a member of Women in Construction. Outside of work, Rae loved to sing and dance and was a proud member of Sweet Adelines International, sharing her love of music and harmony with others. She also found great joy in crafting, sewing, and quilting. She had a creative spirit and a gift for making both beautiful handmade treasures and meaningful connections with those around her.
She is survived by her daughters, LaRae Neal (Rich) and Sue Gillette; her grandson, Gage Gabol; her sister, Wanda Ramsay; niece, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Rae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Richey, her sister Glenna Keown and her parents Floyd Euel and Estil Reva (Dearing) Stallings.
Erma Rae will be deeply missed, but her love, creativity, and adventurous spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
To Honor Rae’s wishes there will be no service or viewing.
