Flora was born on December 14, 1929, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Edgar and Docia Henson. As the eldest of nine children, and following the untimely death of her mother, Flora stepped into the role of matriarch at just 14 years old, lovingly caring for and helping raise her younger siblings – a responsibility she carried with grace and strength throughout her life.
Flora’s formative years were spent in Wellington, Kansas, where she met the love of her life, Raymond Morris. Though Raymond was drafted into military service during World War II and deployed to serve his country, he never wavered in his plan to return home to reunite with his “sweetheart,” Flora. They were married on July 3, 1946, welcoming Raymond into the Henson family and beginning a devoted partnership that would last a lifetime. Together they raised three children: Glenn Edward, Cassandra Lee, and Robert Wayne.
Flora spent many years serving others through her work leading hospitality and custodial teams at private schools, hospitals, and later for one of Denver’s most prominent law firms. She was deeply loved by those who worked alongside her and by those whose lives she quietly made more comfortable through her diligence, kindness, and care. Flora and Raymond worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices so their children could receive a Christ-centered education at Mile High Academy – an investment rooted in faith, love, and hope for the future.
Flora dedicated more than 80 years of her life to faithful service as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Through her devotion, she formed deep and lasting bonds with fellow members – many of whom became family in every sense of the word. Until her final breath, Flora spoke openly of the church’s importance in her life and her unwavering trust in God, a faith that anchored her, guided her actions, and sustained her hope.
Flora was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Raymond Morris; daughter, Cassandra Williams; son, Robert “Bobby” Morris; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Morris; grandson, Eric Williams, his wife, Erin Williams, and great-grandchildren, Carter and Siena Williams; granddaughter, Brenda Valentine, and great-grandchild, Jackson Rice; sisters, Helen Williams and Peggie Menefee-Robertson; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Aurora First Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 11400 East Mississippi Ave, Aurora, CO 80012, United States. The service is scheduled for January 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
