Kevin Dwayne Rook, Denver, CO. went to his heavenly home on August 15, 2024. Born August 16,1966 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, he grew up in Tyler, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife Letitia (Tisha) McCrea, his wife of 31 years.
A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Tyler, he furthered his education at North Texas State University in Denton. He earned his PhD, also in computer science. Kevin was an Eagle Scout and during the time he marched with the Robert E. Lee band drum corps, he performed at the Aloha Bowl.
He loved photography and traveling with Tisha, Hawaii being their favorite place.
Kevin was generous, kind and loyal. He liked to laugh, and to know Kevin was to laugh with Kevin. He was a curious scholar who never stopped learning new things. A devoted husband to Tisha, he recently described her to one of his friends as his “personal unicorn”, which most people never find.
As a senior database administrator at DaVita World Headquarters in Denver, he felt rewarded to have a part in helping to make the lives of kidney dialysis patients better. Before being awarded the DaVita Shining Star Award, his boss described him as an all-around example of an employee, peer, mentor and friend to many. He was always ready to do more than was expected of him, whether it was formally his job or not, and to assist anyone who needed his help.
He loved and was loved by family and friends, and he cherished the time he could spend with them. He is survived by his parents Donnis Kay and George Rook; sister, Kimberly Strobel; nephews, Sean Strobel, Brad Strobel and his wife, Emma. His sister-in-law, Rise Cady-McCrea, her husband Mark Cady, M.D. and their children Clark and Camille. His close friends in Denver, Greg Berry and Keith Stansell, were like brothers to him.
Kevin was grounded in his faith in Jesus Christ, and we look forward to being reunited with him in heaven.
Please join the family in a celebration of his life at Marvin Methodist Church in the chapel, 300 W. Erwin St., Tyler, on Saturday, September 7 at 2:00 PM. A reception will follow the service.
