To the only other dad in my life, you have impacted more people and lives than you could ever imagine.  Because of what you taught each of your children, then grandchildren and how each one of them have impacted the lives around them.  You will be missed more then we could ever have known. I know he's probably having a good conversation and playing the fiddle with my Grandpa Paul and the rest of our loved ones now... I was blessed to be your half witter heffer, and you my grumpy old fart. You and I had a special bond and you loved my son like he was your own. Mr. Essex was an awesome father, grandpa, and man to know. He was an adopted dad to me, so sad to know he's left us here but can rejoice that he's reunited with his wife, mother of all the children that I got to know. Thankyou for sharing this!

I didn't know Mr Essex very well, but the legacy he's left through his music & his children speak of a man with a wonderful heart. Laura is my dearest friend & Lowell was my pastor, they both mean so much to me. Linda & Laura & Cathy & Patricia are better sisters to me than my own, though many miles separate us.
I hope you run into my cowboy guitar-playing daddy & play some music with him! You'll be missed terribly.

I wish I lived closer so I could have seen you more often.  Thank you for your love of music that has passed down all the way to your great grandchildren.  It makes my heart tingle to see your great grand daughters learning on the piano you learned on.  You are forever in our hearts. I'll never forget watching you play violin or one time giving me one of your eye patches.... And you told me as we were walking into the Mexican restaurant "Your the prettiest granddaughter I have" this is obviously sooooo far from the truth but it still makes me smile. He passed a love for music to my dad who in turn passed it to me. Love you grandpa.... Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. I'll always treasure my memories of you

I didn't get the pleasure of knowing you but if your daughtor and grandchildren are anything like you then I am sorry i didn't get to know you. They are blessed by God with their strength, kindness and willingness to help.Thank you for sharing your love through them.You will be missed. Rest in pease til you are reunited with your loved ones.

Beautiful obit tribute. One thing missing that I would have added was the incredible faith my grandfather passed to his family. My earliest memory of my grandfather is of him reading his Bible early in the morning and praying before I went to school. We had many talks about God, faith, Scripture, imperfection, and forgiveness. I am thankful for the gift of music from my grandparents- it has always been an integral part of my life. But I am forever grateful for the heritage of my faith in Christ from all four of my grandparents, but especially my Grandpa E. May I honor your memory by passing it on to my own future generations.

What will we do without you, Dad?  You will forever be the fiddlin' cowboy and we thank you for your gift of music, your passion for music, which you have passed on to so many of your children and grandchildren.
