Laurel, as she was called by her family, graduated from Lafayette High School in 1956. She worked as a key punch operator for the State of Colorado before moving to California.
She married her husband, John, in San Francisco, on February 15, 1958. When the priest pronounced them husband and wife, the church bells rang.
Laurel and John welcomed their sons, John Jr. and David, while living in California. When the boys were babies the family moved back to Colorado because Laurel wanted to be close to family.
After a short stay in Lafayette, Laurel and John purchased a home in Northglenn. Their twins, Suzann and Julie, and their brother, Christopher, joined the family. Laurel was a homemaker. When John, a pipe fitter, was working out of town. Laurel, who never learned to drive, was dependent on family for transportation. She soon decided to call Sears and enrolled in a driving course. At the time she was in her late twenties.
Laurel was a stay at home mother for many years before she began to work outside the home. She worked at IBM and the Adams County Jail.
Laurel and John enjoyed traveling to Mexico. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed spending time with her family and in June traveled with her children to Washington for John Jr's retirement party.
She loved her church. She spent her mornings reading scripture. The first reading on the day she passed began with “May flights of angels lead you on your way to paradise and Heaven's eternal day.”
Laurel was dearly treasured and will be deeply missed.
