Melva was born March 13, 1931 in Eads, CO, to James and Clara Lynn. She grew up with 7 brothers and sisters. Life wasn’t always an easy thing for her back then, but, she grew up strong and with determination!
Melva met Jack King, an Army soldier, while working in Lamar, CO. They were married shortly after on August 23, 1952. They were married for 49 years before Jack preceded her in death.
Melva and Jack had 5 children, Monica, Jackie, Cindy (Dave), Terril (John), and Dawn. Jackie preceded them both in death. There are 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. They made their home wherever the Army sent them, 3 different tours in Germany, eventually settling down in Aurora, CO to live out their days.
Melva was very active in her Church. She got the most delight out of life by helping others. She liked being able to give of herself. She also was a very devoted mother to Dawn….solely caring for her these past few years.
These past few months, tho difficult, we, the family have been very blessed to be able to witness the way the Lord has prepared our family for her passing. She had instilled faith in her family to be able to rejoice her journey to heaven….as Dawn puts it – she can walk again…she can dance and sing!
Melva leaves us with lots of memories of her spunk and tenacity…
