With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Crifassi, who left this world on May 13, 2026, at the age of 75. Mike was strong-willed, fiercely independent, and deeply loved by those who knew him best. Though stubborn at times, it was that same fighting spirit that carried him through life’s challenges and made him unforgettable.
Born in Chicago on May 9, 1951, Mike was the oldest child of the late Carl and Veronica Crifassi. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Sager, and his brother, James Crifassi. He is survived by his sister, Denise Bruschi; brother-in-law Ron Sager; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a great-great-nephew, and his best friends Jack and Val.
Mike lived life on his own terms. He valued family deeply and had a way of making people laugh even during difficult times. Those closest to him will remember his determination, loyalty, sharp wit, and the quiet ways he showed he cared.
Mike spent many years living in Chicago, where he worked at Discover Financial Services as a programmer, a career in which he truly excelled. After retirement, he moved to Lake Havasu City, where he spent the last five years of his life.
Mike was a champion ping pong player — one of his greatest prides and joys. He also enjoyed collecting pocket knives, pens, watches, and cameras. If you were lucky enough to truly know him, you knew how special he was.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held in Chicago at a later date.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Mike’s strength, humor, and spirit will remain with us always.
