Naomi Alta Burrier was born on Easter Sunday, April 12, 1925 in Royal, Arkansas. Naomi was the second child to Leon and Nettie (Morgan) Robbins. At the age of 4 1/2, Naomi and her family moved to a farm south of Strasburg, Colorado, where she lived until she was 19. On the farm she worked very hard, went to school, and being the eldest girl, helped raise her brothers and sisters. When she was 19, she moved to Byers where she helped her Aunt and worked at the Coronado Hotel. At the hotel is where she met and married her husband, Kenneth Franklin Burrier. He preceded her in death just 4 days short of her 90th birthday. Kenneth was the love of her life, and she deeply missed him, after all they were married for 69 years and 4 months. Together, they had three sons, Kerry, Gerald and Marty.
In 1952, Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Jesus was a big part of her life. She became a member at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, where she remained a member for over 66 years. She was an active member too, teaching Sunday School and Training Union for 47 years, being apart of W.M.U., Ladies Aid, Home Builder's Club, and anywhere else she was needed.
Naomi was also busy making a home for her family, and trying to be the best mother and wife she could be. She also took care of her elderly mother through her failing health, taking her to doctor's appointments in Denver for many years. She loved to keep house, garden, sew, craft and read.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Nettie; brothers, Vernon, Alfred, Jack, Charles, and Eugene; sister, Arlene, and grandson, Baron.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her sons, Kerry (Mari); Gerald, and Marty; grandchildren, Cameron, Deohonna, Gera, Janelle, and Carrie; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; sisters, Pearl, Iris, Lyla, and Linda; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 10-11AM at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Byers. A funeral service will follow at 11AM, also at Mt. Tabor. Naomi will be laid to rest at Byers Cemetery following her funeral.
