

After graduating from high school, Peggy attended Colorado State University in Greeley for a year before beginning her career with the Department of Reclamation. Over the years, she held a variety of office positions and eventually found a long-term professional home at State Farm Insurance Company, where she worked until her retirement.
On June 13, 1954, Peggy married the love of her life, James “Art” Duarte. They shared over 50 joyful years of marriage until his passing in 2005.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Known for her bubbly personality and beautiful singing voice, she brought joy to every gathering. An exceptionally talented quilter, her handmade creations are treasured in many homes. She also loved gardening, reading, baking for her family and friends, and was a loyal Denver Broncos fan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Lori Stetzel of Superior, Montana, and Larry (Donna) Duarte of Aurora, Colorado; her grandchildren, Shandis Duarte, Brianna Thacker (Ryan), and James Duarte (Cyndi); and her great-grandchildren, Hayden, AJ, and Marion, all of Aurora.
Peggy lived a long, full life and truly enjoyed every minute. Her warmth, creativity, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held at 10AM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Advantage Aurora Chase, 1095 Havana Street, Aurora, CO 80010. Please join the family for a reception immediately following the service. Peggy wished to be cremated and she will be laid to rest with her husband at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 1:30PM on Friday, August 8, 2025 for those who wish to attend.
