Ronald T. Young was born July 9th 1947 in Aberdeen, SD to Carl and Helen Young (Vogel). Becoming the 6th of 8 kids (10) in a household where both parents had health issues and he learned early on the importance of family and self reliance. Before the age of 12 he was working concessions and custodial jobs to help at home. The ability to work for his family never left.
He graduated from High school in Aberdeen and shortly after was married and sent to Vietnam and like many his marriage didn’t survive but he did.
He then moved to Fargo, ND and went to college, and thankfully met my mom after and got married and had me. We lived in Fargo and Bismarck, ND from 1975 until 1990 and then mom and him got a divorce.
He came down to Denver to do what? Get a job of course… There are plaques congratulating him on loyalty for 10 and 15 years.
My dad always had a job. He was never fired. He would have multiple jobs at once to feed me. He always worked primarily in the electric supply field. Primarily GE (Cashway Electric) and Graybar Electric. When I was under 13 he dealt blackjack at night 4 days a week - in bed at 1:30 am and up at 6:30 am to work at Graybar Electric.
He had a thirst for knowledge. When he got to Denver he was bored and got a second bachelor's degree. Later in life he took Catholicism courses on the Bible.
His sister Jeanette (Kreital) and him had a special relationship. They had an ability to talk each other off a ledge and later in life be friends to remember the past with.
My dad saved my life from drugs. He gave me an out and provided me and my ex wife a place to live 100% bill free for 3 years while in college. My own success story doesn’t exist without him. He taught me how to be a man, a friend, and a father. He was my best friend. We argued politics all the time but we loved each other passionately and would have done anything for each other. We both knew where we stood with each other and there was nothing left on the table when Jesus acquired his spirit.
He will be missed. He is now, with the Lord, without a doubt, and it takes away our pain. We need to do a great job here so we can see him there. He’s really, really, well and happy again!!
We all love you dad!!
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Helen (Vogel), his brothers: Richard (TX), Donnie (GA), David (MN), and his sisters: Dorothy Marie (MN) and Kathy (SD). 2 children died before or shortly after birth. He is survived by his son Chris, Chris’s ex wife and adopted daughter Chenell (Quinn), grandkids James and Alina all of Denver, CO, a sister and brother in law, Jim and Jeanette Kreital (Young) of Renner, SD, a brother Duane and wife Kathy of Vancouver, WA, and numerous nieces, nephew and acquaintances.
